Once you start getting traffic pouring into your site/blog, you will definitely want to do everything that you can to maximize the money that you make. Often times, people start making money and they fail to continue to analyze their site. Simple tweaks to things like ad copy and the products you are offering can easily double and triple your sales, which is very significant! I call this what some people call “monetization optimization”.
Here are a few things you can do to optimize your sales:
– Find out what your visitors want
– Test, test, and test!
– Make sure you offer quality products
– Build a list when possible
– Develop a relationship and establish credibility
Find Out What Your Visitors Want
One of the best ways to do this is to use Google Analytics. You MUST incorporate Google Analytics code into your website/blog. Once that is done, log into your Google Analytics account at http://www.google.com/analytics. You will see a list of all the keywords that the visitors searched for on Google before coming to your site/blog. That really tells you what your visitors want.
Conduct a research by finding affiliate programs and/or digital products that relates to the keywords they searched for. Offer such things (banner ads or digital products) for sale on your blog/website. You are sure to make sales.
Keep doing this regularly so that you can test what works and what does not work. If you do this for a while, you will know what is profitable for you or not. Please note; make sure you offer quality products that you yourself can use.
Building a List
If you aren’t building a list on your website, you are missing out on a huge opportunity. When visitors come to your site and just see an ad, you have a chance to sell to them right then and there, and often times you will never see them again. If you were able to capture the person’s email address, you could market to this person many times over. Statistics have shown that often times sales increase when someone is repeatedly offered something. One of the tools you can use to build a list is Aweber or GetResponse.
You need to be creative when building a list. I would strongly suggest that you create some sort of valuable product that you can give away for free, in exchange for people signing up for your list. This could be something like a free eBook, a free newsletter, and so forth.
Once you have a person’s email address, you can start developing a relationship and establish credibility with them as you send them emails on a regular basis. Before you know it, you will have a targeted list containing tons of people that actually value what you have to say, and are more likely to trust you when you recommend products to them.
